 FIRE SAFETY AWARENESS

* Make sure all smoke alarms are working, and test them once a month. Replace the batteries at least twice a year.

* Caregivers are encouraged to check the smoke alarms of those who are unable to do it themselves. The chances of surviving a home fire almost doubles with the initial warning from a smoke alarm.

* If you smoke, never smoke in bed or near an oxygen source or other inflammable object.

* Do not overload electrical outlets or extension cords.

* Take special precaution if you are on medication that makes you drowsy.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH CORNER

Please continue to keep a watchful eye on your neighborhood. The following are IMPORTANT:

1. ALWAYS lock your apartment doors.

2. Keep sticks in your windows.

3. Keep valuables in a safe place.

4. ALWAYS lock your vehicle.

5. Do not leave any cash or valuables in your car.

6. Notice strangers and strange behavior. If you suspect something is inappropriate, call the POLICE. DO NOT MAKE YOURSELF AN EASY VICTIM!

REGARDING PARKING - Please think of your fellow residents when you allow a visitor to park in the lot between 5:00pm to 8:00am. Most lots are completely filled, so an additional car causes another resident to be displaced. Have visitors park in the Visitor's Lot at 88 Dewey Avenue or in the street. Remember there is NO STREET PARKING between 2:00am to 6:00am. City Police may ticket the car. Thank you for your consideration and concern for your neighbors. PLEASE PUT YOUR PARKING PERMIT ON YOUR BUMPER. We will issue you a new permit if you have a faded one or have lost it. If a car has no sticker, it is considered a visitor, and may be ticketed and towed at your expense.
